It is that time of year

Christmas is right around the corner.  This is a time where everyone is trying to finish things up before the new year and cram in as much shopping as possible.  I like to take a step back and reflect over the next few weeks.  What did I accomplish?  What could I have done better?  How can I improve for next year?  This truly is the time for giving, making time for your family.  Give to those that do not have much.  I try to devote time to volunteer but I always wish I had more time.  I know I was part of a few meals, some soup kitchens, and donated some toys for kids but I am going to make an effort this coming year to do more.  Spend less time on the couch and more time giving back.

Happy Holidays

November 1 2011

Wow I can not believe that it is already November.  Two more months left in the 2011 year.  Where does the time go?  Always so busy I think I need to find more time to relax and smell the flowers.  Work is still going very well, I have slowed down my travels significantly.  I have not traveled by plane in over two months.  Figures, so close to the next mileage milestone and I stop.

Anyway, things are still going great, kids are getting so big so fast and I really do not like home improvements.

So What Happened Over the Weekend

1) Went to local High School football game where JES and his team were introduced and met some of the local Varsity team.  Very cool!  I know JES enjoyed himself.  Then went out for ice cream.  That is always a fan favorite.
2) Took JES to his football game where he grabbed 8 flags and scored two touch downs.  1 rushing and 1 receiving.  Relaxed and watched College football the rest of the day where MKS fell asleep next to me...very precious.
3) Went out with the G's to the new Crop Bistro.  Very open and pretty decent vibe.  I thought the food was OK and the wine list was par.  I don't really know why everyone was giddy about this but whatever.  I had a better time with the company than the restaurant itself.  First time at ABC Tavern.  I have to say the vibe there was pretty awesome!  Ended up going home about midnight and having a good night sleep.

Already Monday

Wow this weekend went by  pretty fast.  Friday has a little get together with some high school friends and Saturday went out with ERK for the official 20 year reunion get together.  I will say that there are some people that have changed over the past 20 years and then there are some that have not.  Seems that there are a lot of folks that live in the area and somehow I never see them.  I did get a few phone numbers and hope to re-connect with a few but we'll see.

Also, I am not sure why but I started the Insanity program today.  I think I already know why they call it that.  I'm doomed!

20 Years

Today I will be hanging out with some classmates.  I will be attending my 20 year High School Reunion.  It is strange to see the people that I saw everyday in school.  I am interested in what they are doing now, how they live, where they live.  High School is a very important time.  I think it shapes who you become, what type of friends you have, and how you treat others.

OSU Wins

First Buckeyes game and had a great time.  Great seats and great company.  Thanks Nate for making it happen.  I really enjoyed myself.  I was amazed at the vibe.  The OH, then IO was crazy.  Will for sure come back soon rather than later.  Maybe catch a Bucks basketball game.

OSU vs. CU

My first Ohio State game today.  I am really excited.  Wish JES was with me.

What have I been up to?

Well where should I start.  I have been super busy with work. Traveling the highways of Ohio.  Of course, still liking the job, although has been stressful the past few weeks but that is almost over.  I will be doing some traveling over the next few weeks (surprise surprise).  I know I will be visiting Cincinnati and Louisville in the next few weeks.  I am looking forward to it.

Other than that, there really has not been too much going on.  Just trying to stay on this side of the dirt.

Very busy Week

Started the week off doing just fine.  Then came meetings, then more meetings, then flew to Atlanta for more meetings.  Finally got home and had to go to more meetings.  Friday was not much better.  I did not have meetings but I did have to set up a lap for a meeting.  All worth it in the end.  Oh, and I forgot to mention, I started to tweet but only work related tweets...for now.

I've seen plenty of Elvis impersonators but I've never seen an impersonator of Peter Griffin impersonating Elvis….nice twist.

Leaving Chicago

It has been an interesting last few days.  It is now that time to grab my gear and get to the airport and head back to  C-Town.  Chicago was once again good to me.  First time going to Navy Pier.  I think I would like to go back and do some more exploring.  Seems there is much to do and much to see.

Till Next Week

I will have to say good bye to Chicago for now.  I will be leaving this wonderful city but will return next week.  Yes I know I have been here quite a bit this past year.  I want to thank you for taking the time in making my stay enjoyable.  Next week I will be downtown.  I am sure there are more places there I can have fun.  I will miss the Chicago till then.

Another Year has passed

Yes that's right, I am 38 years old today.  Lots has changed in the past year.  I did get a new job and that keeps me plenty busy.  I have not been running as much as I would like to be and I need to change that.  I have been very lucky this past year.  I have everything I need and I am really happy.

Been Busy

After spending four days in Dublin, Ohio for the Memorial tourny, I have come home very tired.  Was home for about 18 hours and had to bolt once again.  Thankfully, my key still works in the door.  Off for a few days (Thursday and Friday), hopefully to recharge just a bit.

Marathon Sunday

I should have posted this earlier.  Very proud of ERK.  She did finish the CLE Marathon 4:15.  She did awesome!  The weather sorta held up, started to get rainy towards the end but we made it.  I think she is still pretty sore.

What a time in NYC

I went to a few pubs.  Sampled some beers that I normally would not have purchased.  I rolled in about midnight and looked like the town was just getting started.  The bars close at 4 am.  I can assure you that I was sleeping by then.  Walked in the rain the next morning to go to training.  I just can not say enough about NYC.  That is truley the first and only melting pot.  I will miss the town.

NYC

Finally made it back to NYC.  Took some pics of Ground Zero after bin Laden was killed and walked around Wall Street area.  I do love this town for sure!

Wow....where has the time gone?

It has been just over two weeks since I posted last.  Where does all the time go?  I will say that I have been very busy.  If I did not mention it, I did get the new Ipad2 and I have been really enjoying that.  I went to opening day for the Indians (2011).  Work has been super busy which is probably why I have not blogged in a long time.

Been one of those weeks

Lot has happened in the last few weeks.  I have been home often.  Not really traveling much.  Which is good.  However, our dog Bennie was put down 3/25.  Was not a good day in our house.  On a lighter note, I did pick up the new Ipad 2.  I think it is pretty cool.  Lots of apps to choose from.  Very handy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Its again that time of year when all the people that are not really Irish pretend they are.  They flock downtown to watch the parade or jam themselves in to their local watering hole and drink till they can not drink anymore.  I am sure that all the local police departments love this day.  Green Beer, green face painting, and green bagels are among the favorites for this day.  We eat and drink too much during the festivities.  Which is why I opted to go to work.  It is not because I am a party pooper but because the crowds today are not what they used to be.  Now having to take care of two babies, I do not have the desire to go out get all wrecked, then drive home.

On a side not.  Not having any meat has not been as bad as I thought it would.  I wont say that I will feel differently later but for now I am doing OK.  Also, I have not had any alcohol.  I really do not miss it that much but then again it has only been a few days.

Another Lent

Today is Ash Wednesday which means that today I have to fast and not eat any meat.  So what am I going to give up?  This Lent I decided to really challenge myself.  I wanted to give something up that was a true sacrifice.  I have decided to give up alcohol and meat.  I think I typed that correctly, yes alcohol and meat.  I will be posting more often as my cravings become more evident and struggle through the next 40 day.

Back in the Bus

Back in Columbus....wow what a day.  Drove to Sandusky, then down to Dayton, then to Columbus.  I am very tired.  Got back from Winkin Lizard, same ole thing, burgers, wings and some beer.  Glad to back at the room, trying to relax and get some sleep.

The Windy City

Oh how I enjoy coming to Chicago.  This city is awesome!  Staying right on the river.  The city is full of great places to eat and drink.  I wish it was just a bit warmer.  This was also the first time I took the Blue Line from the airport to downtown.

Still in Seattle

Well I am still in Seattle.  I am pretty much away from all the action.  I did walk to the Space Needle.  That is about a mile away from me.  When I started walking it was a light drizzle and thought....ya I can make it in this.  Well little did I know about Seattle weather.  I was drenched by the time I go to the Space Needle.  So then I was faced with a dilemma...do I pay to go to the observation deck or just dry off and go back to hotel room.  I thought...it is dark and it is raining, what could I possibly see.  So I bought some tshirts and and umbrella and made my way back to the hotel.  On the way back...the wind was gusting so bad it turned my new umbrella inside out and broke the metal braces.  So that went in to the garbage (nice way to blow $12).

This is a real uneventful business trip.  I have not really gone out anywhere or got too crazy.  Probably for the better.

Seattle

It sure took me a long time to get here but I finally made to the Emerald City.  I am staying in a Suite which has a kitchen and stuff so not like a real hotel.  There are significant differences in Seattle that you do not see in Cleveland.
1)  There is a lot of shipping (I saw almost 1,000 shipping containers that said 'China Shipping'
2)  There are a ton of Evergreen trees, which is probably why they call this the Evergreen state
3)  In Cleveland, there are thing written in English and Spanish.  In Seattle, things are written in English, Japanese, and Chinese.  That sure was different.

Went to a local pub for some grub.  Very friendly people here in Seattle.  So far so good.

Just Wednesday

It has been a while since my last post.  Wow that sounds familiar!  Anyway...work has been keeping me busy and I continue to hit the road.  I am off to Seattle this weekend.  I am looking forward to it.  Here is what I do not look forward to...MORE SNOW.  It has been coming down and the frigid temps have been crazy.  I suppose spring is around the corner so we'll see if that changes my mood.  I am in a real funk.  Have no motivation to get to the gym, I have put on some extra pounds, and don't feel like doing much.  I have been eying up Insanity.  Its a 13 disc set that helps you lose weight and get fit.  I am just not sure I have the commitment in me.  I am only thinking about it at this point so we'll have to see whats up with that.

San Jose

Landed in San Jose about 2 hours ago.  Flight from Cleveland almost did not happen.  The spark plug was bad...imagine that.  Anyway, I got here safe and pretty much got dressed and got on the tread mill for a 5 miler.  However, my left chin did not hold out for the entire run.  I was only able to finish 3.  I was more frustrated that mad.  If I am going to run the Half Marathon, I have got to get this chin thing taken care of.  We shall see....

Few days in to the New Year

This post is probably a few days later than I wanted it to be.  The New Year is already very busy.  Back to work and doing some travelling.  I was thinking about what sort of New Year's resolution I should undertake.  I have the best family, the best friends (KG and TG), I already exercise, the best job, I don't do drugs, I don't smoke.  So what should I do to somehow change over the next year.  So here is what I plan on doing.  I plan on drinking less beer and eating better foods.  I am tired of the greasy stuff I have been eating and really want to try to cut that stuff out.  We'll see how long I can keep that up.  I think I am off to a decent start.  Anyway I am happy the Buckeyes finally beat an SEC team 31 26.  Sure was a close one but they did win.
